Confederations Cup 2009 Timetable/Schedule

The 2009 Confederations Cup will be held in South Africa and will run from 14th June 2009 to 27th June 2009. As soon as the timetable is revealed details will appear here.

The tournament will see hosts South Africa and World Cup 2006 winners Italy join the champions of each international football confederation in the final stages.

On the 19th December 2004, FIFA announced that from 2005 onwards the Confederations Cup would be held every four years and European and South American qualifiers would be no longer obliged to take part.

In Europe the winners of Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland will qualify. If Italy win Euro 2008, World Cup runners up France will qualify for the 2009 Confederations cup. In South America the Copa America 2007 champions qualify with the winner of the 2007 Asian Cup of Nations qualifying from Asia. In North America the winners of the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup go through with the winners of Oceania's 2008 OFC Nations Cup making up the numbers.

The venues for the 2009 Confederations Cup have been decided. They are;

Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg

Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria

Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein

Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenberg

Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth
