World Cup 2010 South Africa - South America Qualifying It was confirmed on February 14th 2007 that, as in previous South American World Cup qualifying competitions, all ten nations from the South American Football Confederation will play each other home and away in one group of ten teams. The top 4 qualify automatically with the 5th place finisher playing a 2 leg play-off against the 4th placed finisher from CONCACAF.
